{"id":2258,"date":"2018-04-12T11:30:22","date_gmt":"2018-04-12T09:30:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/didouqen.com\/?p=2258"},"modified":"2020-09-14T11:33:53","modified_gmt":"2020-09-14T11:33:53","slug":"haf-hosts-students-from-ptpi-in-southern-morocco","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wordpress-haf.ddev.site\/haf-hosts-students-from-ptpi-in-southern-morocco\/","title":{"rendered":"HAF HOSTS STUDENTS FROM PTPI IN SOUTHERN MOROCCO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Between June 3rd and June 5th,\u00a0 HAF hosted fourteen students and two adult leaders from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ptpi.org\/\">People to People International (PTPI)<\/a>\u00a0in the village of Tassa Ouirgane located in southern Morocco&#8217;s High Atlas Mountains.\u00a0 PTPI, founded by President Dwight Eisenhower, and now run by his granddaughter, is dedicated to cross-cultural communication within and across communities and nations.<\/p>\n<p>The visit helped the students build first-hand knowledge of the socio-economic and environmental opportunities in rural Morocco and gave them the opportunity to participate in a service-learning project. During the program, students gained basic knowledge about participatory development through an\u00a0introductory\u00a0session conducted\u00a0by HAF\u2019s Training and Project Manager, Abderrahim Ouarghidi. In addition, the students\u00a0practiced hands-on activities with the \u00a0community, such as social mapping and pair-wise ranking, with the goal of helping local people reach consensus on their priority development needs.<\/p>\n<p>The students also enjoyed traditional Moroccan food, learned basic cultural norms in rural Morocco, and built\u00a0relationships with local people through community meetings and discussions.
