Each year&#8217;s planting season, which ends in mid-March, gives us the chance to make a donation that will benefit our environment and generations to come. For only $1 per tree, you can give the gift of sustainable development to rural Moroccans.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/highatlasfoundation.org\/files\/images\/DSC_6327.thumbnail.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"301\" border=\"0\" \/>Fruit tree agriculture is so special because it at once profoundly impacts household incomes and the environment, and is in extreme demand by rural Moroccan communities.\u00a0 HAF and its partners launched a campaign in 2006 to plant\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/highatlasfoundation.org\/projects\/fruit-tree-agriculture\">1 million fruit trees<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 and since then we have planted 200,000 (nearly 8 times the number of trees in New York City\u2019s Central Park!) that benefit approximately 25,000 people in the most disadvantaged areas in rural Morocco.<\/p>\n<p>Together, we can realize this year\u2019s goal of planting with Moroccan families 220,000 fruit trees that grow naturally.\u00a0 This initiative includes building three community nurseries (totaling 200,000 almond, cherry, and walnut saplings), and planting 20,000 drip irrigated olive trees.\u00a0 Benefitting communities (approximately 150 villages or 30,000 people in four provinces) provide all labor in-kind and the project transfers skills so that local people can sustainably replenish their own nurseries in the future.<\/p>\n<p>Please\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/highatlasfoundation.org\/content\/our-plans-2011\">read about HAF&#8217;s\u00a0 other vital 2011 community initiatives.<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Friends, it\u2019s time now to make a difference for this planting season!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"image image-small-thumbnail-100 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/highatlasfoundation.org\/files\/images\/make_donation_img.small-thumbnail-100.gif\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">It&#8217;s Time!<\/p>\n<p><strong>~ Let\u2019s together plant thousands of walnut trees that will live 500 years ~<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>~\u00a0<\/strong><strong>And thousands more almond and cherry that will at least double family incomes<\/strong><strong>~<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>~\u00a0<\/strong><strong>And thousands still of olive trees (drip irrigated) which prevent erosion\u00a0<\/strong><strong>~<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>~\u00a0<\/strong><strong>And plant them in four provinces of Morocco by mid-March\u00a0<\/strong><strong>~<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>~\u00a0<\/strong><strong>And let\u2019s do this together \u2013 plant 220,000 trees and impact 30,000 people \u2013 by raising $278,000\u00a0<\/strong><strong>~<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><span class=\"inline inline-center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/highatlasfoundation.org\/projects\/fruit-tree-agriculture\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"image image-small-thumbnail-100\" src=\"https:\/\/highatlasfoundation.org\/files\/images\/haf.million.trees.small-thumbnail-100.jpg\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There is a window of opportunity that comes once a year to dramatically improve the lives of rural Moroccans.
