On September 26, the High Atlas Foundation and its NGO partners in Morocco distributed over 200 pounds of school supplies to the elementary schools in the villages of Tagdid and Mejjou, in the Valley of Agoundis, Rural District of Ijoukak, in the Province of Al Haouz. Thank you so much to the students of Smithtown High School, in Long Island, New York, for working so hard to raise the supplies. In all, 81 rural elementary school students benefited and we are so thankful.
We would like to especially thank Catherine Masrour, a librarian at Smithtown High School and a former Peace Corps Morocco Volunteer, for spearheading this great project. We thank Royal Air Maroc for shipping the school supplies to Marrakech at no charge. And we thank the Association of Solidarity for Development, Conservation of the Environment, and the Protection of Walnuts, which is part of the Federation of Associations of the Al Haouz Province, for delivering and distributing the supplies to the local teachers and students.
We would like this activity to be on-going for rural Moroccan elementary schools. If you would like to volunteer your time or provide other support, please let us know.
