by Rachid El Kouhen, Father of Sami (after whom Sami’s Project is named)
On Jan 16, 2014 we attended the culmination of HAF’s 1 million tree planting campaign. On that day, over 10,000 fruit trees and seeds were planted in 8 different provinces of Morocco.
Sami’s Project was vital in this campaign with the participation of the youth in over 30 schools and educational centers. Thanks to all organizers, school principals and staff, parents and volunteers, children were prepared and eager to put their hands in the mud and start planting.
To be around these kids in such an event was great fun, joy and excitement. On Jan 16th, our team attended and planted trees with kids in 5 schools in the Al Haouz province. Similarly, on the same day, other HAF teams were attending and planting trees in many other schools throughout from Taza to Boujdour provinces. It was a great feeling to know that Sami’s Project was being carried on by many people all at the same time.
Sami’s Project is to help disadvantaged kids, through the participatory approach, deeply appreciate the multiple benefits of organic fruit trees and take ownership in their education and future. We are so pleased with the level and speed by which Sami’s Project is reaching out to these kids in rural areas in Morocco. Jan 16th was a great testimony to that. Thanks to the HAF for the extraordinary planning and coordination of this great event.
Investing in Kids is a sure investment. Sami’s Project enables our youth to unlock their talents and potentials in a positive and transformational way. Please continue to support this great investment.
