The High Atlas Foundation is pleased to announce that Kate McLetchie has been hired as its first Country Director. Kate is based in Rabat and oversees HAF’s projects, partnerships, and operations in-country. This is an exciting next step for HAF and Kate’s work in Morocco will allow us to better respond to the needs of the rural communities with whom we partner.
Kate served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Morocco (2001-2003) in the environmental education and rural community development sector. She lived and worked in a small village outside of Ouarzazate, focusing on women’s development projects. Prior to assuming her role as Country Director, Kate worked at Echoing Green – a nonprofit that provides seed capital and strategic support to launch innovative social change organizations around the world. Kate has been an active board member of HAF since 2005 and has been instrumental in helping the organization develop and grow its programs and funding sources. She holds a MS in marine and atmospheric sciences from Stony Brook University (2005), and a BA in biology from Wheaton College, MA (2001).
We welcome you to contact Kate to learn more about HAF’s work in Morocco, to share ideas, and to learn how you can get involved with our projects and partnerships.
